Enjoy a Day of Eating in YYC! in Travel Tuesday

Calgary is a bustling city with stunning views and only a short drive from the gorgeous Rocky Mountains. Besides the deep fried wonders available at the Calgary Stampede and our delicious Alberta beef, Calgary is home to a quality food scene with plenty of variety.

If you are visiting the city and looking for some places to refuel, here’s some suggestions for a full day of eating in Calgary:

Breakfast: Red’s Diner

Need to fuel up for the day? Look no further than Red’s Diner. With three locations in Calgary, there will always be a seat for you! Red’s has all the breakfast classics like omelettes, bennies and pancakes but also features some non-traditional plates like the Blueberry, Basil & Goat Cheese Stuffed French Toast. No matter what you crave for the most important meal of the day, you are sure to find a great, tasty option at Red’s Diner.

Lunch: Big T’s BBQ

Specializing in the art of BBQ, Big T’s is certain to provide a “smokin’ experience for your taste buds. With plenty of smoked meats prepared daily, it’s hard to choose just one dish. While Big T’s is a dream come true for omnivores, there is something for everyone—they even offer a black bean burger for the vegetarian in your group! My favourite is the brisket sandwich with a side of hush puppies. Yum!

Dinner: Carino Riserva

Located in Mission, one of Calgary’s most beloved shopping districts, Carino Riserva is a unique Italian-Japanese fusion restaurant. While many dishes (such as the Hamachi Carpaccio or the Caprese Salad with Yuzu Vinaigrette) combine the best from both cuisines, Carino Riserva’s extensive menu will appeal to everyone—no matter if you’re craving pasta or ramen!

Dessert:Village Ice Cream

Ask any Calgarian where you should go for dessert, and they’ll tell you to go to Village Ice Cream. A true favourite in our city since the first location opened in 2012, Village offers a variety of “always” flavours and a constantly rotating menu of seasonal treats. Their Victoria Park location features an aesthetically-pleasing patio to get the perfect Insta pic, while their Britannia location allows you to enjoy your cone with a view of the Elbow River. Whichever location you visit, you won’t be disappointed that you stopped by!
