Lavender & Lace - A Lesson in Relaxation

Lavender & Lace - A Lesson in Relaxation in Mayfield, PE

The rhythmic clack of knitting needles, the soothing soft aroma of lavender and a sampling of honey wine (mead) - the perfect atmosphere for relaxation!

Take a deep breath of the fresh, salt-scented air of rural PEI. You're ready to discover the magical world of knitting lace! If you've always been intrigued, mystified and maybe a little nervous about lace knitting, this is for you. Spend a little time learning and practising the simple lace techniques using beautifully soft, organically dyed wool from PEI's Fleece and Harmony Mill. Discover why we use lavender in our "Ewe Love" line and how you and your woollens will benefit from lavender. You'll take home a skein of Fleece and Harmony wool in your choice of colour and an original Knit Pickers pattern for fingerless lace mittens.

We'll visit La Serena Farm where Charles and Laura grow lavender. Their sheep keep the farm manicured and their honey bees not only pollinate the organic fruit, they provide the honey for the farm's award-winning meadery "The Island Honey Wine Company". A tour of the farm (weather permitting) will wrap up with a sampling of honey mead. Perhaps your favourite will be Lavender Mead, a perfect accompaniment to PEI's tasty lobster and oysters.

Price: $65.00 (+HST) per person. Have your own double-pointed needles? Bring them along! If not - we have, available to purchase, a lovely selection of birch needles, handcrafted in Atlantic Canada.

**Note: Basic knitting skills (how to knit and purl stitches) are required.
